Find a Fishing Buddy in Clearwater
Florida
Clearwater and the upper Pinellas coast fish the clear water of Clearwater Harbor and St. Joseph Sound behind the barrier islands, with the Gulf beaches and nearshore reefs just outside the passes. Snook, redfish, and spotted seatrout hold the grass flats and the dock lines year-round, and the Pinellas beaches host one of Florida's best summer tarpon runs — big fish cruising the sand within sight of shore. Spanish mackerel, kingfish, and grouper work the nearshore Gulf. MyFishingBuds connects Clearwater and north Pinellas anglers so you can split a flats trip, chase beach tarpon with a partner, or run the nearshore Gulf.

When to fish Clearwater
Year-round fishery. The marquee event is the beach tarpon run May through July, when big tarpon migrate along the Pinellas Gulf beaches and the passes. Fall (October-December) is the inshore peak — redfish school, trout fishing peaks, and snook are active. Spanish and king mackerel run spring and fall over the nearshore reefs; grouper and snapper fish the Gulf structure. Winter brings big trout, sheepshead, and pompano on the beaches. Summer is hot with afternoon storms — the tarpon and the dawn/dusk inshore bite make up for it.
