Find a Fishing Buddy in Lake of the Ozarks
Missouri
Lake of the Ozarks is one of the largest and most popular reservoirs in the Midwest — 54,000 acres of Missouri lake with over a thousand miles of shoreline, endless docks, and a deep bench of fish. Largemouth and spotted bass, a nationally regarded crappie fishery, white bass, and big catfish all thrive here, and the dock-heavy shoreline creates structure fishing unlike anywhere else. Trophy trout water sits nearby at Lake Taneycomo, and Table Rock adds more bass to the region. MyFishingBuds connects Lake of the Ozarks anglers so you can share a bass boat, split a crappie trip, or find a partner who knows which docks hold fish.

When to fish Lake of the Ozarks
Bass fishing peaks in the spring spawn (April and May) and again in fall as fish chase shad into the coves; summer bass fishing means early mornings and shooting docks in the shade to beat the heat and the heavy recreational boat traffic. The crappie fishery is a Lake of the Ozarks calling card — best around the spring spawn (April) when fish move to the docks and brush, and again in fall. White bass run up the feeder creeks in spring. Catfish fish hard through the summer, especially at night. Because it is a busy recreation lake, early mornings and the cooler months are the most pleasant times to fish.

Local tips for Lake of the Ozarks
This is a dock-fishing lake — thousands of boat docks create shade and structure, and 'shooting docks' for crappie and bass is the local art form. A buddy who knows which docks and brush piles hold fish (and has them marked) is a huge advantage on a lake this size. Public ramps are plentiful around the arms. Summer weekends bring heavy pleasure-boat traffic, so fish early or on weekdays. For a change of pace, Lake Taneycomo to the south is a cold tailwater with trophy trout, and Table Rock is a premier bass lake.
