Florida
Kissimmee is the launch point for the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes — Lake Tohopekaliga (Toho), East Lake Toho, Cypress Lake, Lake Hatchineha, and Lake Kissimmee — one of the best trophy largemouth bass fisheries in the country. These big, shallow, grassy lakes produce double-digit Florida-strain bass every spring and host major national tournaments, with strong crappie, bluegill, and shellcracker to round out the year. MyFishingBuds connects Kissimmee-area anglers so you can share a bass boat on Toho, split a guide for the spawn, or find a partner who knows the chain.

When to fish Kissimmee
The marquee season is the bass spawn, roughly January through April, when big Florida-strain largemouth move shallow onto the grass and sight-fishing and flipping produce the chain's trophies — this window put Lake Toho on the national bass map. Pre-spawn (November-January) gives up the biggest fish on moving baits. Black crappie (speck) fishing is excellent November through February. Summer is topwater and frog fishing early and late, with bluegill and shellcracker bedding on the full moons. Water level and the hydrilla/grass condition drive the fishing on these shallow lakes.

Local tips for Kissimmee
Big Toho Marina on the Kissimmee lakefront is the most-used Toho ramp and a hub for guides; the Chisholm Park ramp reaches East Lake Toho, and the Southport and Overstreet ramps open up the lower chain (Cypress, Hatchineha, Kissimmee). Lake Toho's north end, the Kissimmee lakefront, and the grass lines are the classic big-bass water — flipping and punching the vegetation in the spawn. The locks connect the chain, so a buddy who knows the water level and the productive lakes can run to wherever the bite is. The dam at Toho and the lakefront produce bass and crappie from the bank.
