Fishing in Ohio

Ohio's calling card is the walleye and yellow perch fishing on the western basin of Lake Erie — arguably the best in the world — plus trophy smallmouth. The Lake Erie tributaries get steelhead runs that draw fly and float anglers each fall and spring. Inland, the reservoirs hold largemouth, crappie, catfish and saugeye. Erie sets the tone, and between open water and winter ice, the state fishes all year.
