🪢 Improved Clinch Knot

Attaching lures, hooks, or swivels to monofilament or fluorocarbon line

Step-by-Step

  1. 1

Thread 6 inches of line through the eye of the hook or lure

💡 Wet the line first — dry knots weaken the line

  2. 2

Wrap the tag end around the main line 5-6 times going away from the hook

  3. 3

Pass the tag end back through the loop nearest the hook eye

  4. 4

Pass the tag end through the large loop you just created

  5. 5

Wet the knot, then pull the main line and tag end simultaneously to tighten

  6. 6

Trim the tag end to about 1/8 inch

💡 Leave a tiny bit — cutting too close can cause slippage

🎣 Pro Tip

This knot works for lines up to 20lb. For heavier line, use a Palomar knot instead.
